Bridging Science and Society;
One story at a time.
Welcome to Bare Bones STEM, an Emory University graduate student initiative sponsored by the graduate division of the Emory University chapter of the Association for Women in Science (AWIS).
BareBones-STEM is a graduate-level science communication initiative started by the graduate chapter of the Association for Women in Science (AWIS) at Emory University. The name takes inspiration from Emory’s beloved unofficial mascot, Dooley the Skeleton, and hopes to reveal the “bare bones” or the most important elements of STEM. Stories at BareBones will take you on remarkable journeys of women scientists at Emory University and scientific breakthroughs by Emory scientists.
Our goal is to serve as a professional development opportunity to graduate students by improving their writing and public engagement skills. At the same time, we want to make research brewing at Emory labs widely accessible to the community.
